Roof / Floor Truss Designer
Position Summary: The successful candidate for this position will design & estimate roof and floor trusses using MiTek and other supporting software, and will ensure truss designs meet customer requirements and specifications that are expressed on architectural & structural project plans.
Job Responsibilities:
· Assists new and existing customers by developing & designing roof and floor truss designs.
· Supports company staff and management in fostering long-term, profitable sales relationships.
· Communicates with architects, engineers, contractors and homeowners in relation to truss design.
· Collaborates with company sales staff and management personnel in all facets of truss business.
· Provides business and design assistance to customers/co-workers via phone, e-mail and in person.
· Surveys and interprets architectural and structural drawings, for input into design model software.
· Translates interpretation of architectural and structural drawings into workable truss designs.
· Articulates interpretation of project plans and how designs fit correctly within the project plan.
· Utilizes charts, graphs, equations, and software to procure business and design conclusions.
· Conducts project site visits as needed for troubleshooting, measuring, and error resolution.
· Consults with architects & engineers to incorporate viable truss designs into project plans.
· Generates 2D truss placement models that will parallel roof designs within project plans.
· Fashions truss design components that comply with parenting truss placement models.
· Employs measuring software and 3D visualization to substantiate the accuracy of truss design.
· Calculates construction loads and other mathematical data to be applied to truss components.
· Optimizes truss components to reduce waste, to correlate designs, and to increase profitability.
· Establishes and maintains truss design pricing within management guidelines & supervision.
· Resolves design errors and cost discrepancies in cooperation with customers and management.
· Tabulates data and specifies hardware to be associated and sold with project truss designs.
· Participates in company inventory functions, and all other duties as required by management.
